Pancake Day

Did you know?

  • We Brits use a staggering 52 million eggs on Pancake Day—that’s 30 million more than on an average day!
  • The average person eats two pancakes, meaning the UK tucks into around 117 million pancakes in total.
  • The record for the highest pancake toss stands at 9.47 metres, set in New York in 2010—will 2025 be the year someone beats it?
  • The world’s largest pancake was made in Manchester in 1994, measuring an incredible 49ft 3in in diameter.
  • In France, it's a tradition to make a wish while tossing a pancake, holding a coin in your other hand for good luck.

Sweet or Savoury?

The big debate continues! We asked the HGEM team their preferences, and the verdict is in—87% prefer sweet! The classic lemon and sugar remains the firm favourite, but here are some other flavour combinations loved by our team:

  • Banoffee with cream
  • Peanut butter, banana, and honey
  • Marmite (for the bold ones!)
  • Bacon and maple syrup
  • Biscoff and pecans

Whether you're flipping for fun or competing for the highest toss, we hope you have a fantastic Pancake Day!
