From Earthquakes to Blackouts, 5 of the World's Weirdest Theme Restaurants

Themed restaurants aren't everyone's cup of tea, but surely with the wealth of them out there, there must be something for all tastes?! We've had a quick look around the interweb for some of the world's more novel dining experiences. Whilst we're beating the Aussies at cricket, we may as well take a look to see what's on offer Down Under. Tharen's Fancy Dress Themed Restaurant in Sydney gives you the chance to dress up for dinner, without feeling like a stag or hen party down chippy alley on a Saturday night. The restaurant says it provides "a nostalgic mix of fiction and fantasy, leveraging famous characters such as: Snow White, Hef's Playboy bunnies, Caribbean pirates, Dracula, Marie Antoinette, and Alice from Wonderland, to create a one-off dining experience." And speaking of Aussies, we know they love a barbie, so they should be all over this Taiwanese Barbie Doll Themed Restaurant . The restaurant, decked out with chairs shaped like high heeled shoes, portraits of our favourite blonde bombshell and more shades of pink than a flamingos wardrobe, has caused moderate excitement within the world of themed restaurants. If pink's a bit bright for you - give this a try. Everyone likes the sights of London don't they? Well, if you don't you could eat at Dans Le Noir - a unique themed restaurant where you're invited to dine completely in the dark. The restaurant says, "Dans le noir? Is a sensory experience that awakens the senses and allows us to completely re-evaluate our perception of taste and smell." If you're scared of the dark though and can't wait for morning, this restaurant will make it feel like the sun has just come up. Albuquerque's R U Cereal ? (ok we get it - just) only serves breakfast cereal. Likely to be a favourite for kids, but perhaps not a good venue to take the better half on Valentine's Day. From the cereal, finally to the surreal. The Disaster Café in Spain gives you what you probably never realised you wanted with your meal - a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. Diners are invited to try and eat their food before they end up wearing it.
