It’s been a bumpy start to the new year to say the least. The first week of January has seen storm after storm, with dire consequences for many in the hospitality industry. From battered sea fronts to flooded riversides, businesses across the country have been deluged, and not in a good way. The Fat Fowl and Bathampton Mill near Bath were just two businesses close to HospitalityGEM HQ that suffered a disastrous Christmas and New Year period . The worst of the weather is now behind us (for the time being), and the industry can look forward to a what will hopefully be a prosperous year. With the economy on the mend, big events like the 2014 World Cup and Commonwealth Games on the horizon, and the everlasting hope that we will see another decent summer in the UK, there are plenty of reasons for the hospitality industry to be optimistic.
